Terms & Conditions

Last updated · 19 June 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your purchase and use of Kiln, a native macOS application (the “App”) made and operated by Erwan Rombo, an independent software developer based in Barcelona, Spain (“we”, “us”, “Kiln”). By pre-ordering, downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not purchase or use the App.

1. The App

Kiln is a “bring your own keys” workbench that runs a single prompt across multiple image-generation models — or multiple prompts against one model — and lays the results side by side on your Mac. Kiln calls each AI provider directly using API keys that you supply and that are stored locally in your macOS Keychain. We do not operate a server that proxies, stores or processes your prompts, keys or generated images.

2. Licence

On purchase you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, one-time licence to install and use the App on Macs that you own or control, for your own use, for the lifetime of the product. The licence does not transfer ownership of the software, and all intellectual property in the App remains with us. You may not resell, redistribute, sublicense, rent, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code from the App, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits.

3. Pre-orders & pricing

Kiln is currently offered as a founder pre-order. The pre-order price is charged in full at the time of purchase, and the App is delivered when version 1.0 ships. The founder price is a discount against the planned launch price and is locked for buyers who pre-order. Prices are shown on the website and may change for future customers; a change does not affect a purchase already completed. Estimated delivery is at launch, and we will notify you by email when the App is available to download.

4. Payments & Merchant of Record

Purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record for all orders. This means Lemon Squeezy handles the transaction, payment processing, invoicing, applicable sales tax / VAT and the delivery of your licence on our behalf. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Lemon Squeezy’s terms of service and privacy policy. We do not see or store your full payment-card details.

5. Refunds

Because Kiln is sold as a pre-order, your purchase is refundable at any time until the App launches: if you change your mind before 1.0 ships, contact us for a full refund. After launch, refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis and in line with your statutory consumer rights and the Merchant of Record’s policy. To request a refund, email [email protected] from the address used to purchase.

6. Third-party AI providers

Kiln connects to third-party model providers (such as OpenAI, Google and Fal) using your own API keys. Your use of those providers is governed by their respective terms and pricing, and you are billed by them directly for any generation you run. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, output, accuracy, cost or policies of those providers, and we make no warranty regarding the images they produce. You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure and for any usage incurred under them.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use the App lawfully and not to generate or distribute content that is illegal, infringing or that violates the terms of the AI providers you connect to. You are solely responsible for the prompts you enter and the images you create with the App.

8. Privacy

Kiln is local-first. It has no account system, sends no telemetry, and your prompts, keys and generated images live on your own machine — they leave your Mac only to reach the AI provider you have chosen to call. Information you provide when purchasing (such as your email address) is processed by the Merchant of Record and used by us to deliver your licence and to contact you about the product.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every configuration of macOS or third-party provider. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-excludable warranties or rights granted to you as a consumer under applicable law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or AI-provider costs arising out of your use of the App. Our total aggregate liability in connection with the App and these Terms is limited to the amount you paid for your licence. This clause does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the “last updated” date above. Material changes that affect a completed purchase will not be applied retroactively to your detriment.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections of the country in which you reside.
